Dear Divorcée- A Victim No More

Dear Divorcée,
Many times during marriage and relationships, we may recognize that we have been a victim of some form of abuse, wrongdoing, or manipulation. Being a victim of any type can be painful, frustrating, and devastating. Know that it was not your fault.
I have been a victim of abandonment, infidelity, and emotional abuse at various times in my life. Being victimized in any way, can make you lose your self esteem, feel hopeless and powerless. Though we have been victimized, we don’t have to remain a victim or keep a victim state of mind.
The truth is we get to choose if we will remain a victim of our circumstances. The longer we stay stuck focusing on what has happened to us, and holding animosity to those who have hurt us, they continue to have power over our lives. We can choose where we go from here.
Take back your power. I did, and it lifted a tremendous weight off of my life. I forgave, and moved forward with my life and live my life in freedom. It’s not easy, but so worth it.
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. -Ephesians 4:31-32
Choose to be a victim-no more!
